Freakin' Ammo Prices

The good news: Grabbed the last four 15-rd. boxes of Winchester SuperX 12 ga. 2 3/4" 00 buckshot at Wally-World for $9.27 + tax each.

The bad news: Back in November, I bought the same boxes for $7.37 each. Ouch....

The good news: You took action and you purchased a "vital commodity"

The bad news : Ammo prices are gonna rise another 22-60% THIS YEAR

How do I know?? between the hyper inflation of the fed and the pressure to disarm us the "backdoor way" is to steady rasing the price regardless of cost.

I would also break my @$$ to get high cap mags for all your guns and get a few for some you dont even own but are common....... those will priced higher than gold and trade like currency in the comming years.

Watch what the next prez dose to the gun community....... you better load up while you can.

Glad you took action though

IT is worse than that, there are several bills in committee that will outright ban the ammo you have already bought. All new ammo will have to be stamped with ID numbers tied back in a fed database to you. Any possession of non-stamped ammo will be a fed offense.

Re: Freakin' Ammo Prices

It is ridiculous. I have seen the same raise in prices.

I recommend you buy things like ammo over gold if you are concerned about any type of collapse or just simply for the investment aspect.

I personally feel I haven't been aggressive enough in making purchases.

I have some thoughts, for those of us who are relatively close geographically, we should consider buying ammo in group purchases. In the past I use to buy with my "gun shooting buddies" and would save a significant percentage on ammo through volume. Our our case luckily one of our members had and FFL so we could use this to our advantage in both price and in anonymity. If you have similar circumstances, consider group purchases especially where one of you has a business that you can purchase through.

Other things you could do is make regular small cash purchases of things like 22 LR which is still relatively cheap for the amount you can get per round and very useful for survival in a grid down situation.

I agree with Tech Guy about magazines and other gun commodities that are likely to dry up and be places where the FedGoobers will try and back door our gun rights.

I have been getting better prices lately online. At the online guys volumes, I am not sure they would go for group puchases.

Aim has the cheapest prices on 223 privi that I have found.

I wouldn't tell them it is a group purchase, just have one purchaser be it an individual or company. Take advantage of the volume discount and then split the ammo up after the fact. We would buy anywhere from 10,000 to 50,000 rounds at a time.

I made the mistake of looking at prices in the Midway Master Catalog from 2006 and comparing them to prices online the other day......prices for several different bullets I was ordering ( .22cal and .30cal ) had right at exactly doubled in 2 years.

It is a scary time when gold, food and ammo are better investments than the stock market. Buying any of these 2 to 3 years ago results in 100% + returns.

It is time to wake up people, they are getting expensive for a reason (or three).

hey guys, its not like some big secret: the prices of ALL METALS have gone up.
aluminum, nickle, steel, lead, copper. thats what ammunition is made of lead and copper, also a bit of nickle in the
brass cases. metal prices are up, transportation prices are up.
expect your food prices to rise rapidly in the coming 6 to 12 months.
With our coming "economic stimulus package" which pretty much amounts to "throwing money in the street" we are on the verge of hyperinflation. It would not be rash to expect ALL prices to double in the next 18 months.

Re: Freakin' Ammo Prices

:rolleyes_m: The whole ammo thing is turning very ugly.

Since when does the government get off declaring private owned commodities illegal to own ?

Knives are dangerous weapons also.
So you must destroy your knife collection and buy new ones with a RF chip molded into the handle and register it with HS as a deadly weapon ?
Yeah...?
What about my garden spade ?
As a deadly weapon it's a hell of a lot more dangerous than a puny pocket knife.

This entire ammo fiasco is getting too far out of hand,
I will not destroy thousands of dollars worth of ammo I had to work and pay for just because some squirrel brain politician decides I'm a felon for owning it.
He/She spent their money on booze and drugs.
I spent mine on ammo.
So who has the moral high ground here ?

I can see a legal technicality rearing it's ugly head on the horizon.

The Second Amendment plainly states citizens have the right to bear arms.
Nowhere does it state citizens have the right to own ammo.

:bear_w00t::bear_w00t::bear_w00t:

They want the entire US populace unarmed and helpless.
Congress is so scared for their own safety they will rubber stamp any piece of ridiculous legislation without even bothering to read it.

Patriot Act II was passed in the blink of an eye.
That should wake you up to the fact no Congressman will oppose anything they send down the pike for approval.

This whole issue is about to turn really ugly for the gun owners of America.

they can make all the pronouncments and edicts they want. enforcing the laws passed is another story. they are not all knowing and all powerful, merely wish to appear that way. if i had swindled the citizenry for the last 45 years, and realized the smokescreen is thinning, yeah i'd be plenty nervous about armed people. laws attempting to limit freedom are the sign of a government in decline.

Damn skippy!! They realize the gig is almost most up and when it finally dawns on the people what the hell has been happening.... we are going to see across the country multiple acts of "SWIFT SMALL TOWN JUSTICE"

As for them banning ammo that I already own ......yeah come try and take it. all I have to do is wait for this whole thing to explode just at the sheer insanity of the laws they are passing. and when people start to snap it is going ti get very ugly very fast and you better have the abilty to keep the wolves at bay.

bottom line: You do what you have to do..... to provide and protect you and yours any "law" that gets in between me and common sense can stick it where the sun dont shine.
